PSC Club Objectives, 2011/12

Objectives for Petawawa Skating Club for 2011/12
(Approved by the Executive, 2011 July 21)
 
Improve communication with Club members and Coaching staff
  • revamp the website; keep it up-to-date and interesting so members regularly go there (will replace Club Information Booklet)
  • post changes to schedule and other important info to web site
  • maintain email list of skaters and email important schedule changes
  • have periodic information meetings with parents (President and/or Session Reps)
  • post public minutes of meetings on website within 2 days of approval
  • during registration, hand out single-page information sheet
  • have list of major skating events on website and keep it updated
 
Obtain full slate of BOD members
  • recruit and fill 3 remaining vacancies before end of August
 
Reintroduce Club Newsletter
  • would supplement information on website
 
Make the website fun and exciting – the place all the skaters want to check out
  • have profiles of skaters with photos and writeup
  • continue Skater of the Month, with article both on website and in Newspapers, to raise profile of PSC in the public
  • regularly update photos on website
  • add short video clips of skaters on website
  • encourage skaters and their parents to submit photos and short video clips
 
Plan and execute a fun, successful Interclub
  • start planning early, and produce a plan
  • establish a committee with lots of volunteers
  • use registration and the website to solicit volunteers for Interclub
  • learn from past experiences
 
Improve the skating experience for our skaters
  • have skaters and parents sign the Code of Conduct when registration is handed in; have coaches also review this and post it;
  • have music players for each session (organized by Session Reps)
  • implement a new sound system at both Civic Center and Silver Dart arenas
  • provide a regular video-taping and instant replay service (say once a week)
  • solicit Program Assistants (including through the website), and encourage them to take the training provided (arrange for drivers to take the kids to and from the training sessions if not in Petawawa); volunteer to have the PA training hosted by the PSC
  • start implementing the changes to the CanSkate program initiated by Skate Canada (have the coaches review the manual from Skate Canada)  
  • determine whether we need more coaches, and if so, actively recruit them
 
Make greater use of volunteers in the club
  • during registration, have a list of volunteer positions, and actively recruit people for them
  • actively recruit for Interclub volunteers (in specific positions) during registration
  • have specific volunteer “vacancies” described on our website (such as someone taking video on a regular basis)
  • recruit and train Session Reps for each of the sessions
  • see whether some of the older skaters are interested in taking on a greater leadership role in the Club (in activities other than PA)
 
Review Club Constitution and Bylaws this year
 
Financial objectives:
  • keep Club membership fees at current levels or lower
  • set fundraising objective to allow this to happen
  • raise additional funds during InterClub
  • invest in new sound system and in other Club improvements
  • continue to invest surplus funds to earn revenue
  • establish finance committee to prepare budget for Club and to review the budget for Syncro
  • establish clear financial reporting rules for Syncro expenses at start of year
  • have Syncro rep attend part of Executive meetings
 
Administration
  • establish regular dates for Executive meetings at start of year
  • run focused meetings starting and ending on time
 
Club membership
  • maintain Club membership at last year’s level or higher
